Course Description |
This course will prepare students for the current CompTIA Project+ certification exam. It covers the full range of skills and concepts students need to know to plan and implement projects. The project initiation and planning process is covered in-depth, culminating in the creation of a project schedule. Learning how to manage business concerns such as cost and risk is balanced by thorough coverage of best practices in managing people and resources. Students will also learn how to manage change and the steps necessary in closing a project. |
Performance-Based Objectives |
After completing this course, students will know how to:
- Discuss project management concepts, project management tools and resources, and the various project management skills.
- Identify stakeholders and business requirements, perform system requirements analysis, identify roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, create a scope document, and build consensus.
- Use the planning process, perform risk management, develop effort, time, and cost estimates, and create a project schedule, budget, and project team.
- Create a vendor management plan, a resource management plan, a communication plan, a quality management plan, and a detailed project management plan.
- Identify project tracking activities, manage resources, quality, the project team, and changes, and close a project.

Target Student |
Students will get the most out of this course if their goal is to manage an IT project efficiently. Although this course is primarily designed to teach students techniques and methods for managing IT projects, it will also provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare for CompTIA’s IT Project+ certification exam. |
Prerequisites |
The only prerequisite for this course is a basic understanding of project management.
